i3D.net’s network ranked in 2nd place with over 9000 unique AS adjacencies

i3D.net, the 2nd most peered network
15 August 2023

The i3D.net network (AS49544) has surpassed the 9000 mark for unique AS adjacencies, ranking second globally for “most adjacencies”, according to several independent route collector projects such as RIPE’s Routing Information Service (RIS), the University of Oregon’s RouteViews project and BGP Tools. This remarkable milestone highlights i3D.net’s unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled network performance, reliability and connectivity to its diverse customers and nearly 700 million unique users on their platforms.

Network adjacency is an important metric in the industry and refers to the number of direct connections a network has with other networks. The higher the number of adjacencies, the stronger the network’s potential for improved routing, reduced latency and enhanced data transmission speeds. i3D.net’s strategy to consistently build upon maximizing interconnection density and granularity underscores the company’s dedication to optimizing its network infrastructure, ultimately benefiting its customers through a multitude of tangible advantages.

i3D.net’s network team has a very clear strategy in place to continuously improve connectivity for all users on the network. For this, the team has regularly established new peering arrangements and partnerships with the most well-connected Tier 1 networks and Internet Service Providers across the globe. Each new connection and peering agreement makes the distance that our clients’ end-user traffic has to travel shorter, and this localization of traffic helps improve speed and performance while at the same time minimizing latency and the risk of jitter.

Prioritizing quality connections

New peering agreements and connections for increased reliability, speed and redundancy are consistently being added, but i3D.net’s bigger strength is in the quality of those connections. The interconnection strategy prioritizes quality over quantity, to ensure that our clients’ users are connected to one another regardless of where they are. Whether their users are near internationally popular metro areas such as Ashburn or London, or locations with more limited connectivity routes such as Bucharest, the architecture of i3D.net’s network is geared for high performance and low latency. Each tier 1 network and ISP added to the network already has access to a large number of users in the region, alongside quality connections of their own to leverage the strength of partner networks.

Bringing users closer together

This means that the nearly 700 million users connected globally on the i3D.net network are brought closer to one another with each new connection, peering agreement and PoP that is added. i3D.net’s presence in over 60 Points of Presence (PoPs) and the high number of adjacencies is a testament to its widespread presence and global connectivity. And with over 100 IXPs connected to the network and its own intercontinental backbone the i3D.net network is designed to reach audiences around the world without compromising on performance. Each new adjacency adds to this by allowing data packets to move into the i3D.net network sooner at the edge of the network, improving performance and reliability as a result.

With a robust network, i3D.net also ensures that its infrastructure is exceptionally resilient. This translates to increased stability and minimal downtime for its customers’ critical applications and online services. The second-place ranking for most adjacencies also means that i3D.net’s network can efficiently exchange data with a vast array of networks across the globe. This optimized data transfer directly contributes to improved loading speeds and reduced latency for customers’ end-users.

As i3D.net continues to innovate and elevate its network capabilities, customers can look forward to even greater benefits, ensuring their digital presence remains at the forefront of performance and reliability. More connections will continue to be added with more users able to access our services within 30ms, and while the news of going up the rankings is certainly positive, the network team is always looking to improve the network even further as one of i3D.net’s main business priorities.
