Since 2002, i3D.net has steadily evolved from a fast-growing startup in the Netherlands to running a global network ranked number 14 in the world for connections to internet exchanges. The i3D.net brand has seen its own share of updates during this time. Today, i3D.net is taking the next step in this direction with a new visual direction that will guide the company into its next era.

The real challenge for the i3D.net teams was in how they could achieve the perfect balance between creating something new which at the same time felt familiar. The design team naturally took the lead and worked on multiple directions simultaneously to arrive at something that resonated with everyone at i3D.net. From 10 entirely different visual proposals, we homed in on one: One simple sketch evolved over the course of several months into what you see on our website today.

Our ultimate goal for the new logo was to have something unique that truly represented us and we are happy to have achieved this with this visual brand update.

The image features the new i3D.net logo with the world map behind it.

What does the new logo represent?

A spaceship taking off and heading off into unchartered frontiers seemed like the perfect fit for i3D.net, which, like a fast-traveling vehicle, has built a high-performance network designed to increase speed and lower latency.

Much like a spaceship exploring unknown territories, i3D.net has looked to push the frontiers of imagination and ensure that gamers across the world can connect through connections not explored before. Through peering with the right ISPs and connecting the biggest internet exchanges to our network, we have looked to push the edge of the network even further and find faster routes wherever possible.

The new logo pays homage to our gaming heritage by clearly referencing classic video games such as Asteroids, which re-emphasizes the company’s gaming roots. Gaming is at the heart of our company and is core to its DNA, so it only made sense that our new logo had to encapsulate this.

Rolling out visual updates

The team at i3D.net is really pleased with the visual update and is working on rolling out the changes over the course of the next weeks. You might notice a change in colors on the website and other communication materials, which is a part of the company-wide transition that’s planned to be finalized by the end of April 2023.
