Meet Anne van der Pijl (28): Marketing and Communications Associate at i3D.net

My name is Anne, 28 years old and I live in Rotterdam. I work as a Marketing and Communications Associate at i3D.net. I studied Corporate Communications at the University of Amsterdam. During my studies I have always liked to do research and write content. I started here as of January 2019, together with another new colleague who joined the Marketing and Communications team. The first two weeks we had a very useful training period. Every department gave us presentations about how they work and what they do. This is how we got to know the company. This was very helpful, since some things are hard to understand when you don’t have a typical IT background.

What is it like, working at i3D.net?
What I like about i3D.net is that not everything has a fixed structure. On the other hand, this is also a downside. Things can be quite chaotic or last minute. Therefore, our Marketing team works according to a Scrum/Kanban method, this helps us organizing everything that has to be done. We have several Trello boards with all our tasks. Every day, we have a daily stand up where we discuss what projects we are currently working on, and how it progresses. i3D.net is a growing company, so there are a lot of opportunities! If you have a new idea you can pitch it, if your team likes it you can take ownership and just do it. Besides, everyone is encouraged to follow courses or classes if it helps you to get better.

An international environment
i3D.net is an international company that acts all over the world. Many of our colleagues get the chance to travel for work. After just two months I went to Cloudfest in Germany. Cloudfest was a great networking event to get to know the industry. Furthermore, our office is also quite international, we have for example some people from, Pakistan, Spain and Portugal as well as colleagues from the US and Britain.

Work hard, play hard
Working at i3D.net is also fun. I’m a big fan of the gym, after work there are always a few people working out. I think it is a great way to release your energy (or stress) after a workday. I have to admit; we also work out to compensate our ‘Fryday’. On Friday we always have ‘French Fryday', this is one of the bonding spirits of the company. We buy fries and snacks and the entire company comes together for lunch. Every Friday after 5pm the bar opens, and we drink a beer together to celebrate the weekend!
